What is biblical counseling?

Biblical counseling is discipleship. It is the personal ministry of the Word through conversation. Every Christian is called to speak the truth in love to his neighbor and help them grow in grace. Believers should desire to apply the Bible to every area of life. The goal of biblical counseling is to present everyone mature in Christ by teaching with all wisdom.

Who is this conference for?

Any growing Christian. Whether you are a pastor, counselor or church member, this conference is for you. This training event is specifically designed to help equip followers of Christ to grow in their faith and to help others do the same. The conference will lay the foundation of biblical counseling principles and practices and cover a wide range of issues dealing with various problems in the Christian life.We offer a Fundamentals Track for those attending for the first time, but also a track for people attending for a second year and a track for people that have attended two or more years in the past.  In other words, there is something for everyone.

Why is training important?

Faithfulness requires equipping. You probably wouldn’t get cardiac surgery from someone with a mere interest in hearts, and you wouldn’t want your car repaired by a simple car enthusiast. In these kinds of areas, you would reach out to someone who actually knows what they are doing. The same is true for counseling. There are all sorts of people who are interested in counseling and may even be persuaded by the principles of biblical counseling, but interest and conviction alone do not make a faithful biblical counselor. Believers need to be equipped to know the Word, to understand its implications, and to apply those truths to their own hearts and the hearts and lives of others.
